Two arrested for posing as Lagos Safety Officials

The duo are currently facing charges of impersonation, fraud, and theft at Ejigbo Magistrate Court.

The Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC) has successfully apprehended two suspects, Jephtah Taiwo and Salako David, who falsely posed as official consultants, swindling unsuspecting businesses out of their money.

The Director-General of the Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, disclosed that the duo was apprehended on Thursday, January 11, 2024, and detained at Ikotun Police Station.

Further investigation, according to a  statement by the Commission on Wednesday, uncovered a specific instance of fraud. Mr. Oganla Rilwan, a property owner, was conned out of N52,000 by the duo with the promise of securing safety signage from the Commission. 

The investigation also revealed that the alleged fake consultants wielded forged abatement notices, provisional safety compliance letters, and construction work notification forms, claiming them to be issued by the LSC.
