Three employees of Black Bell Restaurant in Lekki were arrested for allegedly diverting their employer’s electricity to a neighbor, Jay Plug Company, for a N100,000 monthly fee. Following a complaint about high electricity bills, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKDC) confirmed the unauthorized connection.

Inspector Hafsat Ajibode, the prosecuting counsel representing the police, has clarified that the charges brought against the defendants are based on violations of specific sections within the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. According to Inspector Ajibode, the alleged actions of the defendants fall under offenses that are distinctly defined and penalized by Sections 411, 340, and 415 of this law.

The suspects, David Oladipupo, Bello Rotimi, and Vincent Ohanuma, pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Gbajumo Ayoku granted them bail at N450,000 each, with further hearing set for November 18.
