The Lekki Textile Garment Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Epe will create 5,000 direct jobs, and over 20,000 indirect jobs once it commences operation, a senior export official said.

Why it matters: The potential jobs is no doubt good news for Epe residents who stand to benefit from the SEZ’s success.

Go deeper: The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, in a statement, said it has disbursed cash compensation to the seven Eyin-Osa families that contributed the 240.09 acres of land for the Federal Government project.

Quote: “There are many benefits to gain from the SEZ, including employment generation, especially for the local community, improved infrastructure, and opportunities for backward linkage,” NEPZA’s managing director, Dr Olufemi Ogunyemi, said.
