The Supreme Court has rejected the appeal filed by the candidate of Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 Lagos State Governorship election, Mr Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, challenging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the February 25 poll.

Rhodes-Vivour had challenged the election of Sanwo-Olu on grounds of alleged irregularities, malpractices non-compliance as well as non-qualification.

Justice Garba Lawal, while delivering the lead judgment on Friday, solidified Sanwo-Olu's position as the Governor of Lagos State.

The Supreme Court cited the absence of compelling reasons to diverge from the tribunal and Court of Appeal's consistent rulings, affirming Sanwo-Olu's lawful election.
