Tariff Hike: The National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers (NATCOMS) is set to challenge the Federal Government's decision to permit telecom operators to raise tariffs by 50 percent in court.

US Politics: Donald Trump was sworn in as the country’s 57th President. In a 29-minute inauguration speech, Trump promised to launch "the golden age of America”.

Expert prediction: One professor of foreign policy said Nigeria can expect Trump’s second administration to be generally unfavourable politically and economically.

Decolonisation plans: Senegal is planning to rename certain roads in honour of “natinal heroes”, Le Monde reported. The roads bear French colonial names which, according to one study, account for 60 percent of street names in Dakar, Senegal’s capital.
