Governor Sanwo-Olu has revealed plans to establish a $100 million film village to boost the creative industry and enhance Nigeria’s export potential.

Nigeria’s film and music industries are globally recognized but often miss out on significant revenue due to limited value addition before export. The Film Village aims to address this gap, equipping creatives to produce world-class content.

Speaking at Yaba College of Technology's 36th convocation lecture titled "Developing export alternatives for Nigeria’s economic recovery," Sanwo-Olu highlighted ongoing investments in infrastructure to position Lagos as a hub for innovation and creativity.

“From the $100 million Lagos Film City currently under construction to the revamped National Theatre and the John Randle Center for Yoruba Culture and History, we are empowering Lagos to deliver artistic and cultural excellence to the world,” Sanwo-Olu said.
