Police to investigate ‘Chinese man for tearing naira notes

The police are set to investigate an Asian man caught on camera tearing naira notes. The incident is believed to have occurred along the Lekki-Epe expressway. A video posted on X showed the Asian man tearing what looked like currency notes.

He was then confronted by a a group before others shielded him from more physical assault. A voice over from the video said “he is tearing Nigerian money; Chinese man tears Nigerian money; he has disrespected Nigeria.”

This prompted the Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja to direct SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, to take action. “Benjamin Hundeyin and the Nigerian Police must investigate this and act,” the directive stated.
