PDP to contest Gov. Sanwo-Olu’s victory in Supreme Court
The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its intention to contest the Court of Appeal's decision that upheld Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's victory in the governorship election held on March 18.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos, Hakeem Amode, the Publicity Secretary of the Lagos State PDP, revealed the party's resolve to challenge the appellate court's judgment at the Supreme court.
“We are challenging the ruling of the Appeal Court, affirming Sanwo-Olu as winner at the Supreme Court. In a couple of days, our petitions will get to the Supreme Court,” he stated. “Looking at some of the Appeal Court’s rulings, there has been so many inconsistencies on its stands on pre-election matters.
Maintaining confidence in the judicial process, Amode said the party has “a strong belief in the Supreme Court to look at the crux of the matter and make a statement that will serve as precedent.”
