Passengers attempting to board the Omi Bus ferries can now only pay with Cowry cards, a card payment system also used for public buses in Lagos.

"This Integration ensures seamless travel options for our passengers, fostering an interconnected transport network within the state,” a statement from the state waterway authority, LASWA, said.

The agency added that the entire Omi Bus ferry fleet is insured and equipped with safety apparatus such as life jackets, life buoys, fire extinguishers and pyrotechnics. The OMI-BUS is also fitted with a stereo system, LED lighting, and USB charging points to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable sailing experience.

With reduced CO2 emissions and an eco-friendly design, the locally made OMI-BUS has reportedly gained international recognition for its safety standards from Interferry, a global ferry association.
