The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) raided four schools in Lekki, Ajah and Ikorodu, confiscating pirated books worth N2.5 million and arresting three suspects.

Why it matters: The crackdown aims to curb piracy and protect the rights of publishers while ensuring schools do not distribute pirated materials to parents and pupils.

Go deeper: Led by Deputy Director Charles Amudipe and security operatives, the operation uncovered pirated books, predominantly from Learn Africa Publishers. NCC pledged to continue such raids to enforce copyright laws.

Quote: “We warn school proprietors and all involved in selling pirated books to stop or face the law,” the NCC Lagos Director, Mrs. Lynda Alphaeus, said.
