Residents in Lekki have faced days of complete blackout, sparking frustration and complaints across social media. On Monday, several residents took to online platforms to air their grievances, with many expressing concerns over prolonged power outages affecting homes, businesses, and essential services.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) responded to the uproar, explaining that efforts are underway to resolve the issue. According to TCN, the blackout was triggered when the protective control mechanism shut down the 300MVA power transformer at the Lekki Transmission Sub-Station on October 24, 2024. TCN has since deployed engineers, along with contractors from Shanghai Electric Company, to work "assiduously" on restoring power to the affected areas.
