The Lagos State Government is set to leverage satellite technology to track building construction across the state, aiming to enforce compliance with building regulations and curb illegal developments. The initiative will involve capturing real-time satellite images of construction sites to ensure adherence to approved standards and building laws.

Dr. Olajide Abiodun Babatunde, the Special Adviser on e-GIS and Urban Development, revealed that this monitoring strategy is linked to the Lagos State Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) bill, now under consideration by the Lagos State House of Assembly. Dr. Babatunde explained that the bill is designed to streamline the building approval process and enhance urban planning efforts.
