Lagos to begin street parking charges in October

The initiative designed to charge hourly fees will initially roll out in Lekki, Surulere, and other selected locations.

The Lagos State government has decided to implement on-street parking charges for vehicle owners in designated areas, starting in October.

The initiative designed to charge hourly fees will initially roll out in Lekki, Surulere, and other selected locations, Sunday PUNCH reported.

According to Sunday PUNCH, the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) in a letter addressed to the Lagos State branch of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, stated that vehicles parked on designated streets would be charged hourly, while indiscriminate parking would attract enforcement actions.

The letter, dated July 19 and signed by LASPA’s Head of Operations, Ayokunle Akinrinmisi, outlined the details of the on-street parking scheme.

LASPA General Manager, Adebisi Adelabu, confirmed this new development, noting that a pilot program will launch in October.
