Lagos Government vows to apprehend criminals vandalising BRT Buses
The Lagos State Government has vowed to crackdown on criminals vandalising Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses in the State.
This announcement follows an incident on Tuesday, August 13, when hoodlums attacked a BRT bus, robbing passengers under the guise of protesting the seizure of motorcycles by the state's task force.
The attack, which occurred around 1 p.m, saw a large mob swarm a bus travelling from Mile 2 to Leventis as it approached the Ore-Ofe bus stop on the Orile axis.
The assailants assaulted passengers, stabbing them with sharp objects and stealing phones and other valuables, causing widespread panic.
In a statement , Managing Director, Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL), Mr. Idowu Oguntona, described the attacks as ‘alarming and unacceptable,’ asserting the government's zero tolerance for such acts of lawlessness.
