The state’s AIDS control agency, LSACA, in partnership with UNAIDS, has unveiled a policy document aimed at addressing the intersection of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and HIV/AIDS in the state.

Why it matters: The policy, titled “Lagos State Guidelines for Addressing the Intersection of Gender-Based Violence and HIV And AIDS,” provides practical strategies and actionable steps to integrate HIV/AIDS into GBV response frameworks, focusing on public health and human rights challenges.

Go deeper: The guidelines were presented during a stakeholders’ engagement at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), with contributions from several government agencies and local and international partners.

Quote: “These guidelines offer a chance for all stakeholders to unite in combating the dual epidemic of GBV and HIV,” said CEO of LSACA, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun.
