Ikeja Electric warns against meter tampering, bribery of officials

Ikeja Electric (IE) has cautioned against meter tampering and bribery of its officials, urging customers to seek only the services of certified technicians to avoid disruptions and potential hazards.

The charge was made during the company's first virtual stakeholders/customers' engagement session for the year.

The DisCo acknowledged the support and constructive feedback from customers, highlighting their role in resolving complaints and challenges.

Speaking during the virtual discussion, IE’s spokesperson, Mr Kingsley Okotie, urged customers to maintain open communication and collaborate with IE to address concerns and improve service delivery.

He reiterated the company's commitment to ethical practices and warned against attempts to influence service requests through unofficial means.

Formal complaint filing through designated channels and obtaining Service Request Numbers (SRNs) were highlighted as the preferred route.
