FRSC launch “Ember” campaign to curb reckless driving in Lagos
Mr Kehinde Hamzat, Lagos Sector Commander, while speaking on Tuesday at the launch pointed out that passengers’ indifference to reckless driving contributes significantly to road traffic crashes.
The Lagos Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched its 2024 “Ember” months campaign in collaboration with Guinness Nigeria PLC, with the theme “Speak Up Against Dangerous Driving: Crashes Kill More Passengers than Drivers.”
Lagos Sector Commander, FRSC, Mr Kehinde Hamzat, while speaking on Tuesday at the launch, pointed out that passengers’ indifference to reckless driving contributes significantly to road traffic crashes. He added that there is usually increase in travels during holiday seasons, which increases road traffic and the risk of accidents.
The campaign includes different engagement activities including town hall meetings, motorcades, and advocacy efforts at transit and rest areas, designed to encourage passengers to speak up and hold drivers accountable for safe behavior, the Guardian reported.
Hamzat disclosed that the Corps Marshal had directed all commands nationwide to actively engage commuters, ensuring they are familiar with safety regulation…
