A section of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation in Alausa, Ikeja area in the State, has been gutted by fire.

It was reported that some staff were still within the building when the fire started after Ikeja Electric restored power.

Men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service arrived the ministry building moments after to battle the fire.

Amid the pandemonium, some staff of the Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pension, who were also within the building, also had to scamper for safety.

It was learnt that the fire emanated from one of the rooms housing the Motor Vehicles Administration Agency (MVAA). Eyewitness account revealed that the fire emanated from a surge in power, causing thick smoke, which bellowed into the atmosphere.

The fire service personnel were able to put out the fire after about 30 minutes, containing the fire before it spread to other parts of the building.
