Dosunmu Fire: List of Markets Shutdown by Lagos State Govt Indefinitely

Following the fire outbreak at Dosumu in the Lagos Island area of the state on Tuesday, April 9, the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led government has ordered the indefinite closure of some markets.

According to the Special Adviser to the state Governor on Central Business Distress, CBD, Mrs. Bola Olumegbon Lawal, the closure was prompted by the need to maintain peace, order and ensure the safety of residents.

Mrs. Lawal made the announcement during her visit to the scene on Tuesday.

She appealed to traders in the area to pave way for emergency respondents who have timely responded to the incident to effectively perform their duties throughout the rescue operations as required.

The fire which started about noon on Tuesday, led to the collapse of two buildings while efforts were ongoing to stop the ranging inferno.

Below is a list of the markets affected by the order:

  1. Dosumu

  2. Nnamdi Azikwe

  3. Moshalashi

  4. Woro Pedro

  5. Obanikoro Streets

  6. Ago Tawa

  7. Idumagbo Avenue

  8. Idumagbo

  9. Ido – Oluwo

  10. Oju Olobun
