Dosunmu Fire: Lagos State Gov Meets NEMA, Speaks on Support for Victims
The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, April 12, met with Zubaida Umar, the director-general of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). Governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the visit by the NEMA team was to show solidarity after the fire at Dosunmu Market which destroyed many buildings. The governor who expressed appreciation to the agency for its quick response towards the incident, revealed that his administration is assessing the extent of damage caused by the fire in order to support the affected traders and work "decisively to prevent such incidents in future." He wrote on Facebook: "Today, I met with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) team led by the Director-General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar.
"They visited to show solidarity after the fire incident at Docemo Market, where multiple buildings were destroyed. I appreciate NEMA's quick response and the collaborative efforts of both state and federal teams in managing the fire.
