Cholera outbreak: Lagos Water Corporation commences extensive sampling of water
The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) has initiated a comprehensive water sampling exercise across the state to safeguard public health and ensure access to safe drinking water amid the ongoing cholera outbreak.
In a statement issued via X on Monday, the LWC disclosed that the water sampling exercise which is being carried out alongside quality monitoring campaigns throughout the state is aimed at "identifying potential health risks associated with contamination."
The corporation encouraged residents to bring water samples from their homes or public spaces for testing by the qualified teams at its headquarters in Ijora.
It also urged the public to refrain from drinking water from "unreliable or untreated sources", and expressed particular concern over the spread of the disease in Lekki and Victoria Island.
