The federal government has established a state-of-the-art observation room that includes closed circuit television (CCTV) to monitor the Third Mainland Bridge and its surrounding areas.

According to minister of works, Dave Umahi, the observation room will be manned by security personnel from the army, navy, police and local security officials.

The minister further revealed that this innovative security measure will also be extended to other key highways, including the Lagos-Calabar, Sokoto-Badagry, Trans-Sahara, Abuja-Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe, Keffi-Makurdi, Lagos-Ibadan, and Abuja-Kano routes.

Also, dedicated boats and vehicles have been assigned to the bridge to enable quick responses to emergencies and the ministry would install solar lighting on all major roads to improve nighttime visibility and boost economic activity.
